SPG Conveyor Systems recently completed the design, manufacture, and also installation of a bespoke stainless steel packing line. This was for a well-known UK skincare and cosmetics brand. Delivering a hygienic, high-performance solution across the customer's packing area.

The Project

When this cosmetics manufacturer approached SPG Conveyor Systems, they needed a complete upgrade to their packing environment. Their requirements were specific: a series of stainless steel belt conveyors running the full length of the packing area. Finished to hygienic standards appropriate for their industry, with integrated side tables to support their packing operatives.

Cleanliness, durability, and smooth operator access were all key drivers.

We Delivered

Working closely with the customer throughout the design and build process, SPG Conveyor Systems manufactured and installed several belt conveyors ranging from six to seven metres in length. Each conveyor was built to the customer's specification and featured:

• Stainless steel frames throughout for easy cleaning and long service life
• White 2-ply PVC belting — a food and cosmetics-grade belt surface that is hygienic and easy to inspect
• Variable speed control to allow operatives to adjust throughput to suit the packing rate
• Start / Stop / Remote Stop control panels with a PEC (photoelectric cell) sensor fitted to each conveyor

The PEC sensor is particularly worth highlighting for anyone specifying a similar system. When a product is detected at the end of the belt, the sensor automatically stops the hygienic conveyor — preventing items from travelling off the end and becoming damaged or creating a safety hazard on the floor. It's a simple but highly effective safeguard on any packing line.

Bespoke Side Tables Manufactured to Match

Alongside the conveyors, the customer also required a substantial number of packing tables to line the conveyor run. SPG Conveyor Systems manufactured 32 stainless steel side tables, each with:

• Easy-clean stainless steel worktops
• Connecting hooks to allow the tables to be positioned flush against each other and alongside the conveyor, creating a continuous, uninterrupted working surface

This kind of integrated approach — where the conveyor and the surrounding workstations are designed and built by the same manufacturer — ensures a consistent finish, a cleaner installation, and a more ergonomic workspace for operatives.
